RSE Policy – Parental Consultation
Dear Parents / Carers
RSE Policy Review
As a school we are committed to promoting personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive PSHE programme. To that end we have worked with the government guidelines to enhance our RSE Education Policy.
We will deliver this area of the curriculum via our Personal, Social, Health & Economic (PSHE), science and computing programmes, with the aim to equip your child with the knowledge they need in order to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships as well as preparing them for a happy and successful adult life.
RSE helps students to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem, to identify and manage risk, make informed choices and understand what influences their decisions. It enables students to recognise, accept and shape their identities, to understand and accommodate difference and change, to manage emotions and to communicate effectively in various settings. These skills are essential for forming and maintaining healthy and safe relationships.
All RSE teaching takes place in a supportive and safe learning environment, underpinned by our school’s ethos and values.
Our revised RSE policy can be accessed below for you to read. A consultation period will now begin from 8th August 2025 until 31 August 2025. If you require any further information, or wish to make any comments on the policy, could you please contact Sarah Appleby (Head of School) – saraha@learningopps.org We welcome your feedback and any suggestions / comments you may wish to make.
Please note that since September 2020, parents / carers no longer have the right to withdraw their child from any part of our relationships education or health education programmes. However, you do have the right to request that your child be withdrawn from some or all of sex education delivered as part of statutory relationships and sex education.
If you would like further information or have any questions regarding your child’s RSE provision, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers. Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards
Lesley Buss (Proprietor)
